Welcome to Shropshire Ladies’ County Golf Association.

At the County Meeting at Wrekin Golf Club on Thursday 1st July the scores were good. In the team events the Mary Black Cup (Silver Division) - was won by Wrekin Golf Club with a score of 143 on a back 9 count back from Shifnal Golf Club. The Janet Blockley Salver (Bronze Division) was won by Bridgnorth Golf Club with a score of 143. The best gross was Sue Pidgeon Wrekin Golf Club 77; the best nett in division 1 was Sue Powell of Oswestry Golf Club 91 -24 67; the best nett in division 2 was Penny Potts Bridgnorth Golf Club 97-26 71.
The 2010 Ladies Championship was won by teenager, Lucy Evans from the Wrekin GC, taking a step up from her Runners Up spot last year. Mile End Golf Club nr. Oswestry was first time host of this championships, opened some 18 years ago, it was presented in superb condition and some exciting golf was played. The leading qualifier was Oswestry's, Victoria Bradbeer with two 75's closely followed by Lilleshall Hall's ,Lisa Warrilow with a 80 and a course record 73. Lisa having made a late dash from her University in the USA the day before, finally succumbed to jet lag on Day 3. In the final, Lucy Evans ( right) and Vicky Bradbeer (left) , saw Lucy taking an early lead, which was pulled back at the 6th when Vicky drove over the out of bounds corner shortening the approach to a chip shot and followed up another win by securing the par 3, 125 yard 7th. by holing her tee shot  Lucy moved ahead again 9th and 10th and held on during the rest of the round - winning eventually by 2 and 1

Second team news - Sue Howse reports that the 2nd team matches are now completed. With a very young team this year, we managed to secure 1 win out of 4. This certainly gave much encouragement.  Staffordshire are Midland North (West) winners, and will play in the final against the winners of Midland North (East).  We wish them good luck.
Angela Hinton, past County Captain & Junior Organiser, reports that Shropshire Girls lost 3-1 to the Shropshire Boys at Oswestry and also lost against the County Senior Ladies. At the friendly against Derbyshire at Walmley the scratch games lost 1-5 but the handicap games won 3-1. The girls are looking forward to their match against Worcestershire at Patshull Park.

Congraulations to Lucy Evans from Wrekin Golf Club she has now won the County Girls Championship at Arscott and also the Midlands North Girls Championship at Chevin in Derbyshire. Well done Lucy.

Olive Brown, County Captain reported that Shropshire 1st Team had attended a very well organized county week run by Lincolnshire. While everything went well the result was a loss to all 5 other teams. However, some of the matches were fairly close: Leicestershire and Rutland 6½ - 2 ½; Nottinghamshire 5½ - 3 ½; Derbyshire 5½ - 3½; Lincolnshire 9 - 0; Staffordshire 5 - 4. Olive was impressed by the players. They played against tough opposition each day and they all gave their best willingly. A happy team who enjoyed the experience - pictured (from back to front & left to right) Hilary Fowles, Lucy Evans and Isabel Green; Katrina Gwilliam, Lisa Warrilow & Helen White; Margaret Ratcliffe, Angela Hinton, Jayne Sandford, Olive Brown (County Captain) and Jo Marvell (County President).
